Solar PV Solutions For Retail in Ireland
Shops use most of their power during the day, which is when solar makes the most of it. Resolute puts panels on your shop or retail park roof so you make your own power instead of buying it. SEAI-certified, with grants up to €162,600 and 25 years of cover.

Cut Your Installation Cost with Grants and Tax Relief
Retail owners and operators in Ireland can stack SEAI grant funding with Accelerated Capital Allowance tax relief, a 100% write-off on qualifying solar PV equipment in the year of purchase. Resolute manages the full application from eligibility checks and paperwork through to ESB connection.
SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen
Grants of up to €162,600 per site, for systems from 1 kWp right up to 1,000 kWp. See our commercial solar grant guide for the full breakdown.
Accelerated Capital Allowance
Claim back the full cost of your solar equipment against tax in year one. You can use this on top of the SEAI grant.
Turn a Daytime Overhead Into an Asset
Electricity is one of the largest controllable costs in retail, and unlike rent or stock it is one you can offset with your own roof. Generate power on-site and you reduce what you draw from the grid at peak daytime rates..
Lower Energy Bills
Solar cuts the volume of electricity you buy, with the biggest savings landing during trading hours when generation and demand line up.
Price Protection for 25 Years
Every unit you generate is a unit you do not buy, so a large share of your supply is fixed against future grid price rises for the life of the system.
Increased Property Value
Rooftop solar with a strong energy rating adds value to a retail building and makes it more attractive to buyers and tenants.
Stronger Green Credentials
Visible on-site renewables support your sustainability reporting and brand, which matters to customers, landlords and corporate partners alike.
Bifacial Panels and Battery-Ready Systems
Resolute installs bifacial glass-on-glass panels exclusively, sourced from AE Solar and Longi. They generate from both faces, capturing light reflected from bright membrane roofs and surrounding hard standing for a higher annual yield per kWp than conventional panels. Every system is designed battery-ready, so stores that trade into the evening can add battery storage and use daytime generation after dark, as we did for Whelehans Wines.

Going Solar from Resolute Engineering Group. As a small family home B&B with many hips, valleys and dormers on main roof and limited space around house required for car parking some imagination was required and Going Solar came up with a plan on a budget to deliver us up to 11,000 kw of power annually via an Anker solid inverter and 20kw of battery, while housing our 25 solar panels on 2 carport structures. On completion the carpark was returned to pre arrival condition and our carbon footprint was slashed by up to 11000 tones a year. On power cuts with change over switch the batteries can keep our home lite for days. Soon Anker app will be updated to automatically fill batteries from any source when Met Eireann issues a red weather warning. Resolute engineering kindly threw in a 21kw zappi 3 phase car charger when doing the install. We had some drama during install that many would have walked from but @ResoluteEngineering @goingsolar saw the project through delivering a finished product any team could be proud of. Yesterday SEAI inspectors called and said top class finish, nothing left out, an install that makes their job easy Thanks to every one who had a part to play in our install at Going Solar @ Resolute Engineering https://resolutegroup.ie/Posted on Google![]()

A big thank you to the team for a very efficient and professional install yesterday. We're delighted with our system and surprised to see that our battery charge went from 25% to 79% today with solar alone, despite the awful weather. We also really appreciate the excellent advice on the size of system to go for and the best panel arrangement; we found the consultation process to be technically far superior to the sales talk of the other solar companies we spoke to.Posted on Google![]()

Whelehans Wines Retail Solar Case Study
Solar PV Installation at Whelehans Wines
Whelehans Wines is a Dublin wine retailer that trades well into the evening, so a solar-only system would miss much of its demand. Resolute installed a 22.8 kWp array of 48 AE Solar 475W panels, paired with a 20 kW KSTAR hybrid inverter and 40 kWh of battery storage. Tigo optimisers keep each panel performing where shading occurs. Daytime generation now powers the store directly, while stored energy covers evening trading and provides backup during outages.
Typical Retail Solar Returns
Resolute installed a 22.8 kWp system at Whelehans Wines. Figures below are modelled from that installed capacity using Irish commercial yield ranges (850 to 950 kWh per kWp per year) and the average business electricity rate of €0.23 per kWh. Actual performance varies with site, trading hours, self-consumption and grant funding.
22.8 kWp Retail Store
| Annual generation | 22.8 kWp |
| Annual electricity savings | €4,450 to €4,980 |

Frequently Asked Questions
Most flat and pitched commercial roofs are suitable, including membrane, metal and concrete decks. We assess loading, orientation, shading and available area during a free survey, and design around obstacles such as plant, rooflights and signage.
Commercial rooftop solar in Ireland typically works out at roughly €1,000 to €1,600 per kWp installed, with larger arrays at the lower end and small shop systems higher. Most mid-sized retail systems run into the tens of thousands before support, and payback commonly falls between 5 and 7 years, shorter still once the SEAI grant and Accelerated Capital Allowance are applied. We give you an exact figure after a free assessment.
Retail businesses can claim the SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant, worth up to €162,600 for systems up to 1,000 kWp, alongside the Accelerated Capital Allowance for a full tax write-off in Year 1. We handle all applications on your behalf.
Most commercial rooftop installations do not require planning permission in Ireland. Exceptions apply for protected structures and conservation areas. We confirm planning status during design and manage the process if permission is needed.
Most projects take 8 to 14 weeks from first survey to commissioning, with much of that being grant processing and ESB connection. Time on the roof is short, and we schedule it around opening hours.
Solar usually covers a large share of daytime demand rather than all of it. Pairing panels with battery storage raises self-consumption and helps power evening trading, which is why many retailers add a battery.
Yes. We work with owners, tenants and landlords, and can structure a system around who holds the lease and who pays the energy bill. One short conversation at survey stage sets the right approach.
