What does a battery do?
A commercial battery does several jobs at once. Which ones matter most depends on your tariff, how you use power and your grid connection.
Peak shaving
Your demand charge is set by your busiest half hour. The battery covers those spikes, so one busy afternoon does not set your bill for months.
Tariff optimisation
Charge the battery at cheap night rates and use that power during expensive hours. This works with or without solar panels.
Solar self-consumption
Solar without a battery often exports power you could have used. The battery stores that surplus for later in the day.
Lifts solar ROI
Backup & grid limits
Keep critical equipment running through power cuts. A battery can also let you add load without an ESB Networks connection upgrade.
Protects operations
How does battery storage work?
We work this out from your actual meter data, so the system is sized around the hours that actually cost you money.
Commercial solar installations across Ireland
Distribution centres, hospitals, GAA grounds and more. 21 projects published.
Is there a grant for battery storage?
The SEAI grant does not cover batteries
ACA: 100% written off in year one
Do you need solar to have a battery?
- With solar: store surplus generation instead of exporting it at low rates
- Without solar: charge at night and use that power during expensive hours
- Adding EV charging? a battery can carry the extra load without a grid upgrade
- Retrofit friendly: batteries can be added to solar systems you already have

Going Solar from Resolute Engineering Group. As a small family home B&B with many hips, valleys and dormers on main roof and limited space around house required for car parking some imagination was required and Going Solar came up with a plan on a budget to deliver us up to 11,000 kw of power annually via an Anker solid inverter and 20kw of battery, while housing our 25 solar panels on 2 carport structures. On completion the carpark was returned to pre arrival condition and our carbon footprint was slashed by up to 11000 tones a year. On power cuts with change over switch the batteries can keep our home lite for days. Soon Anker app will be updated to automatically fill batteries from any source when Met Eireann issues a red weather warning. Resolute engineering kindly threw in a 21kw zappi 3 phase car charger when doing the install. We had some drama during install that many would have walked from but @ResoluteEngineering @goingsolar saw the project through delivering a finished product any team could be proud of. Yesterday SEAI inspectors called and said top class finish, nothing left out, an install that makes their job easy Thanks to every one who had a part to play in our install at Going Solar @ Resolute Engineering https://resolutegroup.ie/Posted on Google![]()

A big thank you to the team for a very efficient and professional install yesterday. We're delighted with our system and surprised to see that our battery charge went from 25% to 79% today with solar alone, despite the awful weather. We also really appreciate the excellent advice on the size of system to go for and the best panel arrangement; we found the consultation process to be technically far superior to the sales talk of the other solar companies we spoke to.Posted on Google![]()
