Going Solar from Resolute Engineering Group. As a small family home B&B with many hips, valleys and dormers on main roof and limited space around house required for car parking some imagination was required and Going Solar came up with a plan on a budget to deliver us up to 11,000 kw of power annually via an Anker solid inverter and 20kw of battery, while housing our 25 solar panels on 2 carport structures. On completion the carpark was returned to pre arrival condition and our carbon footprint was slashed by up to 11000 tones a year. On power cuts with change over switch the batteries can keep our home lite for days. Soon Anker app will be updated to automatically fill batteries from any source when Met Eireann issues a red weather warning. Resolute engineering kindly threw in a 21kw zappi 3 phase car charger when doing the install. We had some drama during install that many would have walked from but @ResoluteEngineering @goingsolar saw the project through delivering a finished product any team could be proud of. Yesterday SEAI inspectors called and said top class finish, nothing left out, an install that makes their job easy Thanks to every one who had a part to play in our install at Going Solar @ Resolute Engineering https://resolutegroup.ie/Posted on Google![]()

A big thank you to the team for a very efficient and professional install yesterday. We're delighted with our system and surprised to see that our battery charge went from 25% to 79% today with solar alone, despite the awful weather. We also really appreciate the excellent advice on the size of system to go for and the best panel arrangement; we found the consultation process to be technically far superior to the sales talk of the other solar companies we spoke to.Posted on Google![]()

How much is the SEAI solar grant?
Open to businesses, farms, schools, community groups and public bodies on systems up to 1,000 kWp. Paid to you once the system is running.
- Covers panels, inverter, mounting and installation labour
- Don't start works before your letter of offer:early starts are ineligible
- Offers last 8 months. Payment comes about 4 to 6 weeks after paperwork
- Farming? TAMS 3 may pay more. We will point you to the right scheme
Tax relief and VAT
ACA: Write off 100% in year one
VAT: 23%, reclaimable
Keep your fleet topped up during the working day. We install and manage workplace chargers with flexible tariff settings, so fleet vehicles charge on the company account while staff and visitors can pay separately.
What affects your payback?
01
Daytime load profile
The share of your electricity used during daylight hours. Sites running through the day get the fastest solar payback.
02
Your current unit rate
Every kWh your solar panels make replaces one bought from the grid. The higher your rate, the more each unit saves.
03
Self-use vs export
Exported power earns the Clean Export Guarantee rate, well below what you pay. Size the system around your own use.

Do you need planning permission?
For most business roofs, no. Rooftop solar is exempt on industrial, business and agricultural buildings. What usually sets the timeline is the ESB Networks connection.

How the install works
Frequently Asked Questions
Sites with strong daytime consumption typically cut bills by 30–50%. The bigger win is price protection: power from your own roof has no unit rate to increase.
Yes, with landlord consent, which is increasingly given, since solar lifts the building’s BER and value. We prepare the technical pack tenants need for that conversation.
Most do, but we never assume it. Every project starts with a structural assessment under added dead load and wind uplift, so issues surface at survey, not install day.
Yes, under the Clean Export Guarantee. But export rates are well below import rates, so we size for self-consumption first and treat export as a bonus.
Yes, but many farms do better under TAMS 3, and you can’t claim both on one installation. Our farm guide covers which route fits.
Days to a few weeks on site. The overall programme is set by the grant offer and ESB connection, which is why we run both applications first.
