Solar PV Solutions For Sports Centres in Ireland
Sports centres and leisure facilities spend thousands on electricity every year. Resolute Group designs and installs solar PV systems for sports centres, clubs and leisure facilities across Ireland, helping facility managers cut energy costs and take control of their power supply. SEAI-certified, 15+ years in business, and backed by Ireland’s longest maintenance contract.

Multiple Funding Routes for Sports Facilities
Sports centres can stack several funding streams: the SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant, the Community Sport Facilities Fund (formerly the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme), Pobal community grants, Local Authority energy grants, the Accelerated Capital Allowance (100% Year-1 tax write-off) and the Clean Export Guarantee for surplus electricity. Resolute manages the applications and advises on the right funding mix for your facility.
SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen
Up to €162,600 in grant funding under the SEAI scheme, depending on system size. Open to sports clubs and leisure centres.
Community Sport Facilities Fund
Solar PV is fundable under the Community Sport Facilities Fund (formerly the Sports Capital Programme): in the last round, almost 200 clubs received funding for solar panels. We advise on integrating solar into your application when rounds open.
Sports Centres Are Built for Solar
Sports centres are among the most energy-intensive buildings in any community. Between floodlighting, heating, ventilation, pool filtration and hot water systems, electricity demand runs high from early morning through to late evening. Most facilities also have large, flat or low-pitch roof areas with minimal shading. That combination of high daytime demand and ample roof space makes them ideal candidates for solar PV.
Lower Running Costs
Solar panels generate electricity from daylight, directly offsetting your grid consumption across pool filtration, HVAC and hot water. Over the life of the system, that translates into substantial savings on energy bills.
Power Evening Floodlights from Daytime Sun
Much of a club's demand peaks after dark: floodlit pitches, evening training and late bookings. Battery storage captures surplus daytime generation and releases it for evening peak hours, extending solar savings into the part of the day sports facilities use most.
Reinvest Savings in Facilities
Every euro saved on electricity is a euro that can be reinvested into pitch maintenance, equipment upgrades, coaching programmes or facility improvements.
Attract Eco-Conscious Members & Sponsors
A visible commitment to renewable energy strengthens your reputation in the community and appeals to members and sponsors who value sustainability.
Bifacial Panels, Designed Around Your Energy Profile
Sports centres have a unique energy profile that standard commercial solar designs do not always account for. Facilities with swimming pools, ice rinks or large multi-use halls have demand that shifts throughout the day and week. Pool filtration, HVAC and floodlighting all have different demand curves, and system sizing must reflect that.
Resolute installs bifacial glass-on-glass panels exclusively, sourced from AE Solar and Longi. They generate from both faces for higher annual yield per kWp, and carry a superior fire-performance rating. Where roof space is limited, carport-mounted arrays over car parks or ground-mounted systems on adjacent land offer effective alternatives.

What Our Customers Say

18 Reviews
Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Going Solar from Resolute Engineering Group. As a small family home B&B with many hips, valleys and dormers on main roof and limited space around house required for car parking some imagination was required and Going Solar came up with a plan on a budget to deliver us up to 11,000 kw of power annually via an Anker solid inverter and 20kw of battery, while housing our 25 solar panels on 2 carport structures. On completion the carpark was returned to pre arrival condition and our carbon footprint was slashed by up to 11000 tones a year. On power cuts with change over switch the batteries can keep our home lite for days. Soon Anker app will be updated to automatically fill batteries from any source when Met Eireann issues a red weather warning. Resolute engineering kindly threw in a 21kw zappi 3 phase car charger when doing the install. We had some drama during install that many would have walked from but @ResoluteEngineering @goingsolar saw the project through delivering a finished product any team could be proud of. Yesterday SEAI inspectors called and said top class finish, nothing left out, an install that makes their job easy Thanks to every one who had a part to play in our install at Going Solar @ Resolute Engineering https://resolutegroup.ie/Posted on Google Tom DonagherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A big thank you to the team for a very efficient and professional install yesterday. We're delighted with our system and surprised to see that our battery charge went from 25% to 79% today with solar alone, despite the awful weather. We also really appreciate the excellent advice on the size of system to go for and the best panel arrangement; we found the consultation process to be technically far superior to the sales talk of the other solar companies we spoke to.Posted on Google Finola O'RourkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Frequently Asked Questions
Most do not. Since October 2022, rooftop solar on recreational and sports facilities is exempt from planning permission with no area limit, unless the facility sits inside one of the 43 Solar Safeguarding Zones near airports, where a 300m² rooftop limit applies. We confirm your site’s position during the design stage.
Timelines depend on system size and site conditions. A typical installation takes a few weeks from design sign-off to commissioning, with work scheduled around your facility’s programme.
The SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant of up to €162,600, the Community Sport Facilities Fund (formerly the Sports Capital Programme, under which almost 200 clubs received solar funding in the last round), Pobal grants and Local Authority grants may all apply. Eligibility depends on your organisation type and location. We confirm the right mix during the site survey.
This depends on your energy usage and system size. Solar will significantly reduce grid dependence, and battery storage extends coverage into evening floodlit hours. We confirm projected output after a site survey.
Yes. Flat roofs are well suited to solar PV. Panels are mounted on angled frames to optimise generation, without penetrating the roof membrane in most cases.
Our panels carry product warranties of 25 years or more. With Resolute’s 25-year maintenance contract, your system is monitored and maintained for the full guarantee period.
Scheduled maintenance visits, real-time performance monitoring, inverter health checks, component replacement and full support for the entire 25-year panel guarantee period.
